Falcon Horse Lover’s Camp

Falcon Horse Lover’s Camp

Email:

Contact Person: Emily Devey

Subject/Content: For horse lovers only. Specialized equestrian program with all horses, all day, every day

Age/Grade level: ages 11-15 years old, girls only, middle school-high school

Type (day/overnight/other): Overnight

Length of Program: One week sessions, multiple sessions optional. June 17-August 11

Cost: $1050/week

Financial Aid: Yes

Notes:  HORSES! HORSES! HORSES! are what you get at Falcon Horse Lover Camp. In this unique program, you receive “your own horse” and literally eat, sleep, and breathe horses all day, every day. Girls only, ages 11 – 15, are accepted from the beginner level up to the accomplished intermediate level. The week-long camps run from June 17 – August 11. Nestled in the woods on Leesville Lake in Carrollton, OH, Horse Lover’s Camp shares the same location as Falcon Camp but is an entirely separate program. A very limited enrollment of 8 girls (12 at end of summer), two riding rings and miles of trails, gives us plenty of room for individual instruction and group lessons.

From the first feeding in the morning until dark, activities surround horses. Campers ride about 4 hours a day with excellent horses and instructors. Ring lessons, trail rides, cross country and fun games are all part of your week. Instruction in basic skills, all gaits, horsemanship, equitation, stable management, first aid and horse health, safety, ground lessons, guest speakers and more. This program is truly designed for horse lovers who already have some basic skills and awareness.

Swimming and waterfront program are included each day. On the last day of camp, there is a mini-clinic for the family to observe. A video is made for each camper over the course of the week so the total horsemanship experience can be reviewed at home. Horse Lover’s Camp helps the basic beginner to the advanced rider. References available and ACA accredited since 1959. If you love horses, you’ll love this camp!

Program includes horseback riding, sailing, swimming, canoeing, fishing, rocketry, drama, crafts, team sports, riflery, archery, nature, overnights, special events and field trips, tennis, and much more. Campers choose their own activities within a general framework each day.

Falcon is a traditional, rustic camp where major ingredients to success are taking good care of our campers and creating an atmosphere of encouragement and understanding. Our 4 to 1 camper/staff ratios allow us to give each Falcon camper individual attention necessary to assure a summer of fun and learning. “Fun for Now, Skills for Life” is not just our motto, the phrase truly embodies what Falcon means, how we teach, and our goals for each camper.

We have a strong reputation for making sure a camper’s first overnight experience is very positive. Our non-competitive environment is inviting to campers who may be hesitant to try something they have never done before, while our awards system challenges our most experienced campers. We instruct from beginner to advanced in each activity we offer.

With an average 70% camper return rate, Falcon has a nice mixture of “old hands” and new faces. Over the past several years Falcon has been host to campers from 18 different states and eight countries. The majority of campers attend from the Cleveland, Columbus, and Pittsburgh areas, all within easy driving distance.

Falcon is an outstanding opportunity for fun and learning. A summer at Falcon is a special experience where good things happen by design.

subject:  Special introductory program for first time young campers. Intro to overnight camp for boys and girls.

age/grade level: ages 6 – 9. elementary school

type: Overnight

length of program: one week sessions, July 29 – August 4, August 5 – 11

cost: $990/week

financial aid available: yes

notes:

Falcon Young Adventure Camp is a unique and exciting introduction to overnight camping for boys and girls ages 6 -9. These one-week programs are designed with care to guide the campers in being successful with their first great “Young Adventure” away from home. Program includes horseback riding, swimming, canoeing, archery, air rifles, crafts, sports, rocketry, fishing, tennis and much more. Young Adventure Camp takes place within Falcon Camp’s traditional camping program and they have the opportunity to observe and occasionally join the older campers. A 1:2 staff/camper ratio gives us the ability to keep a close eye on each camper with a staff member always available with a helping hand. This will provide a very personal camp experience for young first time campers.  In the living units, this also allows for more attention to “parental concerns” such as eating right, brushing your teeth and the classic standard: I know it’s your favorite shirt but you still can’t wear it every day! The Young Adventurers travel as a group with a counselor to all activity areas.  At each activity they will learn the basic skills needed to enjoy themselves safely.
